Dr Ricardo Cohen
Dr Ricardo V. Cohen MD, is a leading bariatric and metabolic surgeon in São Paulo, Brazil, and Director of the Center for Obesity and Diabetes at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz. A prominent figure in global obesity care, he has served in multiple leadership roles, including President of IFSO Global (2024–2025), President of the IFSO Latin American Chapter (2018–2019), and President of the Brazilian Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (2011–2012).
Over more than two decades, Dr Cohen has contributed to clinical innovation, international education, and capacity building. He has been active in SCOPE training programs, co-chaired international courses, and coordinated major IFSO - ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø educational initiatives. He also chaired the 2016 IFSO World Congress in Rio.
His clinical work focuses on metabolic and bariatric surgery, multidisciplinary obesity treatment, and expanding evidence-based care across diverse health systems.
